Day 3

In the morning we started packing immediately. After a quick breakfast and one last discussion with my Uncle my Dad was ready to go. By 9:30 we were on the road.

When we had gone a hundred miles we got lunch and fueled up before we headed into Utah. Soon we started seeing beautiful rock formations and the roads got more interesting, swerving around some cliffs and drilling through others. The area looked much like the painted desert--and felt like it, too. Even the wind from the fast moving bike did not make me feel cool, much less cold as it many times does.

This was the longest riding day yet, so I got to look around a lot. Every hundred miles or less we stopped for fuel. Gas stations were getting sparse, so we did not usually pass one.

We covered a total of about 500 miles and had crossed all of Utah, ending up in Nevada at the end of the day. We fueled up one last time and rented a motel room. For dinner we went to the nearby grocery and bought a basket of cold chicken. We spent the rest of the evening eating the chicken, taking showers and finally getting to bed.

  6. Spidey,
Great pictures, awesome observations, and a wonderful Blog. You are a great kid, it was my pleasure to meet you last year, and looking forward to shaking you hand again this year. Stay upright and visible. A broken wing is one patch you do not want to earn. Take care, see you in Angel Fire.
